Bike Build 2008

We need some workers!
We are looking for any registered volunteers that are willing to help Deborah in the back end of the building by filling in at the bicycle pick up table. These volunteers will be stationed at the table that morning and will be in charge of working with the bicycle count agents to ensure receiving charities are given the correct type and number of bicycles. They will also be in charge of greeting the agencies picking up bicycles and signing off on bikes. Please let Deborah know if you are interested in working at this station.

We are still urgently in need of over 20 volunteers from our pool of confirmed attendees to help man registration tables on the morning of the build. If you have been confirmed as a volunteer (either individual or as a team member) and would like to help with checking in volunteers, collecting paperwork, handing out t-shirts, etc. please contact Deborah Lemberger as soon as possible. Volunteering for registration will require you to be at the hall by 7:00am on December 13th. PLEASE HELP!

Also, we could really use help in food service/pick up/pizza distribution as well.

I would like to schedule all of these volunteers before the build as well so that I can instruct each on details beforehand. Let me know if you are available and which job you can assist with.

Tool List

  • Floor Pump for tire fill
  • Gloves
  • Utility knife and/or Diagonal cutters
  • Metric allen wrench set of varying sizes including 4mm, 5mm, 6mm
  • Open end/box wrenches sizes 10mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm
  • Open end/box wrenches sizes 5/16", 7/16", 9/16"
  • Medium size adjustable wrench
  • Deep 3/8 drive sockets, sizes: 10mm, 14mm, 15mm, 18mm.
  • 3/8 drive extensions and ratchet wrench.
  • Small, flat blade screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Deep 5/16" socket with drive capabilities (only a few bikes need this)
  • Pedal wrench (normal thickness wrenches do not always work)

Optional If Available:

  • Bike work stand
  • Truing stand
  • Spoke adjusting wrenches
  • Misc. bike tools for possible extensive repairs (not very likely as all bikes are new and will be returned for warranty if defective).

Notes:
For many there may be a possibility of working on the floor. Kneepads or other type of pad may be helpful.
We will have only limited access to 110v power so plan on all work being done with hand tools.

If you have lots of tools you may park next to one of the side doors to unload and then move your vehicle elsewhere for day parking.
